Science@School Discovery Day

Students meet Scientists

On 21 September 2026, the SyNergy Cluster of Excellence (SyNergy) and the CRC1744-IRTG BrainVasc Graduate Program will join forces to welcome advanced-level high school students from Kantonsschule Obwalden, Switzerland, for an engaging Science@School Discovery Day in Munich.

Bringing together expertise in neuroscience, vascular research and translational medicine, SyNergy and BrainVasc will offer the students a unique opportunity to experience current research first-hand and meet scientists working in the field.

The afternoon will focus on two major neurological conditions: stroke and dementia. Short introductory talks will provide the scientific and clinical background before the students get hands-on themselves. At three interactive research stations, they will step into the world of biomedical research – exploring a research laboratory, examining microscopic samples related to Alzheimer’s disease, and working with anatomical specimens to better understand stroke. An interactive quiz and open discussion will round off the afternoon, giving students the opportunity to test their knowledge, ask questions and exchange ideas with the participating researchers.

SyNergy and IRTG-BrainVasc are looking forward to an inspiring afternoon with the students, lively discussions and, of course, many curious questions!
