Crash course in open, responsible, and reproductible research

LMU Open Science Center & Nikolaus Plesnila

The LMU Open Science Center will deliver an introductory course on essential research practices that will make your research more reliable, computationally reproducible, and credible in the eyes of your peers, the public, and funding agencies.

This course is targeted at novices in open research practices. Prerequisites are to have already read scientific articles and collected and/or analyzed scientific data.

You will learn how to:

  • Specify research design and set up statistical plans in advance of collecting data to mitigate biases in analyses, with the help of preregistration and data simulation
  • Create computationally reproducible workflows to be more efficient and spot mistakes in data wrangling or analyses, through programming in R
  • Manage and share your data following the Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable principles to facilitate collaboration and accumulate credit and citations

This Basic Principles Course is mandatory, so please keep the dates free in your calendar. If you plan to apply, please let me know by sending me an e mail Melanie.Salvermoser@med.uni-muenchen.de.
